Into the Darkness, Pt. 2The day started out much like any other. I awoke and got dressed, ate a quick breakfast, and strapped on my sword and armor. But unlike other days, today I was not headed to my father’s studio, but to join in the ranks of the Town Watch. Most people wouldn’t see it as an exciting occupation, but just as one that must be done, like any other job. The sleepy town of Valindar has seen nothing worse in its existence than bar fights, petty crimes, and on very rare occasions, murder. But it’s never been involved in any wars, any cults, or any kind organized crime or battle.

Into the DarknessIn the shadows of twilight, the large oaks cast eerie demons in the darkness. The full moon glowed brightly and sent dim rays through the thick canopy to the forest floor.  The night was surprisingly warm and calm, despite the changing seasons nearing winter.  Crickets chirped as the frogs sang their sad songs, and prepared for the storm ahead.

In the distance, clouds gathered, large thunderheads which absorbed all moisture, and blackened as their size grew.  The clouds drifted lazily across the sky, yet their fury raged within the depths, driven mad by some unseen force. Lightning sparked and crackled from with
